It is said competition brings out the best in people and Siya has shown us that by winning the Star Kalakaar trophy in Dallas this year. She has been training in Indian classical dance for a four years, but, its after watching her friends march up to the podiums receiving prizes and accolades, sparked in her the need to do better in class and be more focused.
The journey to the trophy and the title was not an easy task. She had to pass through two elimination rounds and was placed first in her age category for Bharata Natyam. Later in June she had to compete with participants who were all winners in their respective age groups and was declared the winner and title holder of the contest. She was placed at the top of the Classical Competition and was also well received in the non classical categories (3rd Place). In time the young lady is poised to make a mark in the performing arts arena following in the footsteps of her illustrious mother Dr. Sunanda Nair.
