Overseas Friends of BJP give a rousing welcome to India’s visiting Advocate, Ameet Mehta

On November 20th 2015, the Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP) and the Indian community organized a function to honor Ameet Mehta, Advocate and President, Mumbai legal cell of India’s ruling BJP party, at Houston’s India House. Mehta, who is also Managing Partner of the Law Firm Solicis Lex was selected for the BJP’s role by Ashish Shelar, President of the Mumbai wing of BJP and his close confidant.

The function was organized by Anand Sharma, coordinator for OFBJP Houston and was coordinated by Sangeeta Dua, CEO of TV Houston and Mack Ajani who had made special efforts in Mumbai to invite Mehta to Houston. Among the dignitaries who attended were Raed Gonzales, partner, Gonzales Law Firm, Councilmember Richard Nguyen, Angelica Garcia, CEO and President AIM Global Logistics LLC, Rahman Moton, President, Myanmar American Chamber of Commerce, Kuldeep Patel, Shelly Bhatti, Deepak Bhatti, Arun Nagpal, Jyotsna Mehta and few others.

There was a packed crowd for his welcome at the India House. The evening started with lighting of the lamps and singing the national anthem. The meet addressed many issues such as partnership between both the countries, field of education and satellite Campus, Infrastructure, Immigration, Community Services, Social Issues Transportation, Logistics and so on.

Mehta said in his address that the calibre of people selected in BJP, including those for cabinet posts is very high. There has not been a single scam in the last 18 months of the BJP rule while there was routinely a scam every three months or so for the last 10 years under the former government. He said that the BJP government is very proactive for development and if you have positive outlook and have plans they will immediately provide full support.

Anand Sharma complemented with Mehta further on the subject by adding “BJP is formed by people who have dedicated all their lives for selflessly serving mother India. Their first priority is to defend and develop India and not change its policies by counting votes or any extraneous factors like caste, family, greed etc.”
Mehta and coordinator Dua were presented an award by Rahman Moton from the office of congresswomen Sheila Jackson Lee for their joint effort to expand culture across the countries. Clippings from various video recordings were played by Arun Nagpal of TV Houston including messages from BJP leaders like President of Mumbai cell Ashesh Shelar and Anurag Thakur, BJP Member of Parliament and secretary for the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

Special thanks was extended to Neeraj and DGN restaurant for sponsoring excellent food and service, Vipin Kumar of India House for providing great support for the event. Dua proposed a vote of thanks that was followed by a sumptuous dinner.
