Houston Indian American organizations help Harvey victims, initiate fundraising efforts



The Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACCGH) and Member Madras Pavilion delivered meals to George R Brown Convention Center today. Members Swapnil Agrawal , Abeezar Tayebji and Jiten Agrawal were all making efforts to help in many ways.
IACCGH Advisors Dr. Durga Agrawal, Dr Renu Khator and Dr. Anupam Ray have shown exemplary leadership during this storm the Chamber eported . Judge Ed Emmett and Mayor Turner have led the community working non stop round the clock to mobilize resources to help the community.
The Consul General of India, has set up communication lines for details about the Indian Community in Houston, for worried friends and relatives in India.
Harish Kathrani – Founder and CEO, Southside Pharmacy had medicines shipped to Houston for hospitals in dire need of them during the storm.
The American Society of Indian Engineers (ASIE) gathered necessary and useful information to several helplines and businesses that provide assistance to those in need.
Several others members too pitched their efforts to help those in need.
Texas Gov Greg Abbott recently mentioned that everyone should register at : disasterassistance.gov. To be covered in case of insurance and federal assistance claims.
Sewa International is requesting all the Houstonians to join hands and help Texans get through this difficult time. You can help by donating money or registering as volunteer. Sewa is putting together a list of volunteers. Once the storm calms down, Sewa volunteer team will help in relief / cleanup efforts.
